  1. The combined direct and indirect contributions of the coal industry to Oklahoma's economy are more than $1 billion.
  2. Using more than 20 million tons, Oklahoma ranks 19th in coal use.
  3. Oklahoma has one underground mine and seven surface mines.
  4. About 62% of the electricity used in Oklahoma is produced by coal.
  5. Oklahoma produces 0.2% of the country's coal supply.
  6. Oklahoma has five coal-fired power plants.
