  1. The combined direct and indirect contributions of the coal industry to Missouri's economy are more than $2 billion.
  2. Using more than 34 million tons, Missouri ranks 10th in coal use.
  3. Missouri has two surface mines and no underground mines.
  4. About 83% of the electricity used in Missouri is produced by coal.
  5. Missouri produces 0.04% of the country's coal supply.
  6. Missouri has 20 coal-fired power plants.
