  1. The combined direct and indirect contributions of the coal industry to Maine's economy are more than $400 million.
  2. Using more than 200,000 tons, Maine ranks 47th in coal use.
  3. About 4% of the electricity used in Maine is produced by coal.
  4. Maine does not produce coal.
  5. Maine has no coal-fired power plants.
