  1. As plant life in the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia decays, new coal is being formed.
  2. The combined direct and indirect contributions of the coal industry to Georgia's economy are more than $2 billion.
  3. Using more than 31 million tons, Georgia ranks 11th in coal use.
  4. About 64% of the electricity used in Georgia is produced by coal.
  5. Georgia does not produce coal.
  6. Georgia has 12 coal-fired power plants.
