California California
  1. California ranks third in mining wages. Miners here, all noncoal, earn about $65,100 per year.
  2. The combined direct and indirect contributions of the coal industry to California's economy are more than $14 billion.
  3. Using more than 2 million tons, California ranks 39th in coal use.
  4. About 1% of the electricity used in California is produced by coal.
  5. California does not produce coal.
  6. California has no coal-fired power plants.
